Lewis (Japanese: ルイス Ruisu) is the initial main character of the side-anime series. He is a Pokémon Trainer from Driftveil City who aims to become a Pokémon Champion. His partner Pokémon is an Aipom he befriended after finding its Egg in Pinwheel Forest.

After falling off a cliff, Pinsir was saved by Kai and developed a bond with him as a result. Later on, Lewis captured this Pinsir during the National Park's Bug-Catching Contest. This capture allowed Lewis to win the contest, with him being given a Shiny Stone as a prize. Afterwards, believing Pinsir to have been happier in the wild, Lewis released him. Pinsir then found Kai again and was caught. | ||

| As a Magikarp, Gyarados was forced to evolve by Team Rocket's radio waves, resulting in it keeping its red colouring as a Gyarados. Due to the shock of evolving so suddenly, Gyarados caused a huge rainstorm and went on a rampage. It was eventually calmed down and caught by Lewis, who later decided to release it when he discovered that the Magikarp became restless without its presence. | ||

After Lucas suggested that he and Lewis temporarily trade their Electabuzz and Magmar to get them to evolve, Lewis received Electabuzz. After sending it out from its Poké Ball, Electabuzz quickly evolved into Electivire. However, before the trade could be reversed, the group was separated by a Donphan stampede, leaving Electivire alone with Lewis. Together, the two managed to return to the Pokémon Centre, with Electivire reuniting with Lucas. After this the trade was reversed and Electivire went back to Lucas. Under Lewis' care, Electivire knew the moves Thunder Punch, Iron Tail and Electro Ball. | ||
